Check your after-hours phone coverage.

Enter the hours someone at the shop answers the phone, one row per day. The checker adds up the rest of the week: the hours nobody answers, the nights and weekend days with no one on the line, and the exact windows.

Your answered hours.

Tick the days someone picks up and set the window. For a shift that runs past midnight, pick a "to" time earlier than the "from" time. Pick the same time for both to mark the whole day.

45hours a week answered
123of 168 hours not answered
7of 7 nights with no coverage
2of 2 weekend days with no coverage

Nobody is on the line for 73% of the week.

Uncovered windows

  • Monday 5:00 PM to Tuesday 8:00 AM
  • Tuesday 5:00 PM to Wednesday 8:00 AM
  • Wednesday 5:00 PM to Thursday 8:00 AM
  • Thursday 5:00 PM to Friday 8:00 AM
  • Friday 5:00 PM to Monday 8:00 AM

Calls in those windows reach voicemail or ring out unless someone picks up.

A night is 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM and counts as uncovered when nobody answers at any point in it. A weekend day counts when Saturday or Sunday has no answered hours at all. Nothing you enter leaves this page.

What to do with the gaps.

Three ways shops close them. Most end up with a mix.

Pick up more yourself.

Forward the shop line to your cell for the windows above. It costs nothing but your evenings, and it works until the night you are on a roof, under a sink or asleep.

Hire or share coverage.

A part-timer, a family member or a line shared with another shop can take the early and late hours. Write down who has the phone in each window so no call falls between two people.

Have an answering line take those hours.

Kaico's phone service picks up day and night, books to your calendar and records the call details. It is sold as part of Front Door; the options are on the pricing page.

See the gaps on your own shop.

Every project starts with a free front-door audit from public data: what leaks, what works, and what we would fix first.

Frequently asked.

Does this store my hours?

No. The checker runs in your browser and sends nothing to Kaico or anyone else. Reload the page and it goes back to the default week.

What counts as covered?

An hour counts as covered when you mark it as a time someone at the shop answers. The checker does not know whether that person actually picked up; it only counts the hours you enter.

What about holidays?

Not modeled. The checker assumes every week looks the same. Holidays, sick days and a tech out on a long job are not in the count.

Is it accurate?

It is arithmetic on the hours you enter, nothing more: 168 hours in a week, minus the hours you mark as answered. If the shop line forwards to a cell after closing, enter those hours too.

How are nights and weekend days counted?

A night runs from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM and counts as uncovered when nobody answers at any point in it. A weekend day counts when Saturday or Sunday has no answered hours at all.
